The fuel/oil heat exchanger is a stainless steel tube/shell unit. The fuel flows through the tubes and carries away heat from oil which flows around the tubes.

Cold fuel is directed from the fuel in port through the tubes in the core to the fuel out port. This fuel cools oil from the integrated drive generator system.
